Fin!

It was the D-day.  The day of goodbyes, well-wishes, blessings...  The teaching experience was nothing short of a transformative one. I can say out loud that I was able to grow as an individual and as a teacher. Another aspect is that each and every one of us were able to find out our "calling" in this life. Even though I felt emotional for leaving my students, I hope that they make it big some day!

  It was finally done.

Menstrual Hygiene

Image
The school, along with Whisper, took an initiative at enlightening the girl students about menstrual hygiene. The programme was aimed at debunking the myths surrounding the concept of menstruation. It was mainly to educate the girls on the importance of maintaining personal hygiene during the time of menstruation. They were shown videos and demos regarding the topic. The session came to an end by providing the girls with free samples of pads by Whisper.  Later, I went to observe the class of one of my peers, Jeena from Maths optional.

Jack-of-all-trades?

Balancing duties as teacher trainees is extremely essential. The last-minute duties that reach our hands would actually seem like burdens but, when done as a team would strengthen us, as a group. Just like breaking down a rock into metal, we increased our productivity and enhanced confidence individually and collectively. Thus, a sense of unity emerged between us which would eventually help us complete our practice teaching session with great success.

Locomotive Rhythm

Image
The students embarked on a train journey with "Chaiyya Chaiyya" in the background. The steam and the rhythmic sound of the locomotive shifted the class into a railway carriage. All of them were excited to watch the video and wanted to re-watch it. Meekha ma'am and Ancy ma'am were present in the class as we moved in "From A Railway Carriage" by R. L. Stevenson.

We're the World

Image
The students and I embarked on a musical journey as I played the song, "We're the World". They were really moved by the music and wanted to listen to it once more. I finished the lesson and gave notes for further clarifications. They got the sense of harmony and unity from the lesson. The class went really well.

8T - A New Journey

Image
As expected, the day gave new hope to me. I was assigned to a new class, 8T, with 34 vibrant young boys. I introduced myself and they were curious about me. After the introductory session, I showed them a video of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". It gave a brief glimpse into the poem we were about to learn, "We're the World".  The composer Lionel Richie was also introduced. After the video, we started the session and reached till the middle of the song.

Unexpected Change

As I got accustomed with the boys at 8W, they were shuffled. I was utterly disappointed for it was supposed to be my optional observation day. Even though I got my lesson plans signed, I was sad about the class I was unable to take. I'd be assigned to another class the next day.
